The Louisville Carriage Company was started on December 9, 1893. Through the years the company merged with other local transportation companies and underwent several name changes. On August 15, 1919 the name was changed to Yellow Taxicab & Transfer Company. Today, Yellow Cab of Louisville along with its sister cab company, Checker Cab, is the largest taxicab service in the Greater Louisville area. Our over 250 taxis are available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week by calling our professionally staffed dispatch office at (502) 636-5511 or for TDD users (502) 634-0948. At any one time Yellow Cab/Checker taxis serve over 90% of the metropolitan Louisville area. Yellow Cab/Checker is the only cab company in the area utilizing the most up to date computer dispatching system.
